Investment will create 13,000 jobs and build a robust 8K+5G ecosystem to cultivate vertical solution developers in the United States

(Racine, Wisconsin) – November 10, 2017 – Foxconn Technology Group (Foxconn), the world’s largest electronics manufacturing services provider, announced today a follow-up to its meeting with President Donald J. Trump at the White House about bringing jobs to America. The company unveiled that it has signed an agreement with the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) regarding the company’s US$10 billion investment to build a world-class liquid crystal display (LCD) panel manufacturing facility in Racine County, Wisconsin.  Under the agreement, Foxconn will create 13,000 jobs in that state with many thousands more jobs created as part of the extensive Wisconsin-based supply chain supporting this project.

“We thank President Trump for his leadership and commitment to bringing jobs back to America and Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker and the WEDC for their partnership and the co-investment that will be made to enable us to move forward with our significant plans to build a state-of-the-art display fabrication plant in Wisconsin, and our commitment to create a robust 8K+5G ecosystem in the United States.  We also thank Speaker Paul Ryan and the White House Office of American Innovation for providing invaluable support in making this happen,” said Foxconn Founder and CEO Terry Gou.

“We look forward to being a part of the Wisconsin community and contributing to its transformation through the value that our campus will generate, and we will do so while ensuring that the very things that attracted us to Wisconsin – its talented and hardworking workforce, long track record in advanced manufacturing, favorable quality of life and environment – are protected and nurtured.”

The 1,000-acre skill-, labor- and capital-intensive campus will lay the foundation for a 8K+5G ecosystem that Foxconn is creating in the United States.  It will manufacture the world’s most advanced large-sized LCD panels which will be used in a wide range of technologies that impact consumers’ daily lives, from the latest generation televisions to self-driving cars and aircraft systems and in the fields of education, entertainment, healthcare, advanced manufacturing systems, office automation, interactive retail, and safety, among many others.  The campus will also include facilities for back-end packaging of liquid crystal display modules, molding and tool and die processes involved in the production of high-precision housing and frames for display modules, and final assembly for end-products.

“The Wisconsin campus will be a flag-bearer for intelligent manufacturing in the Industry 4.0 era, harnessing the latest manufacturing technologies in areas such as big data, the Internet of Things, cloud computing, automation and artificial intelligence,” said Mr. Gou.  “We will leverage our experience and expertise as a global manufacturing technology leader to drive innovation in advanced manufacturing systems, establish a conducive industry environment that supports a vibrant supply chain, and develop cutting-edge products and solutions to meet future needs for the most advanced display technology.”

Foxconn’s Wisconsin campus will provide a platform for the development of next-generation hardware and solutions as part of the 8K+5G ecosystem, and serve a catalytic role in cultivating a new class of vertical solution providers for advanced manufacturing processes and technologies, as well as for industries such as education, medical and healthcare, entertainment and sports, security, and smart community, in the United States.
